Biographical notes:

The College of Engineering and Technology is a relatively new college, but the root of each of its programs goes much further. Originally the new college was formed to help meet the growing demands for engineers and scientists, and composed of six departments from the College of Arts and Sciences plus the expansion of five departments from the department of Engineering and Sciences. Since then there was a strong demand for the engineering departments to be administered by their own college and appointed dean, and in 1972 the new College of Engineering Sciences and Technology was announced.

The college grew in enrollment and soon departments in the college had their own colleges made. President Dallin H. Oaks saw the advantages in having Technology and Industrial Education align with Engineering Sciences. In 1972 President Oaks announced the creation of the College of Engineering Sciences and Technology. The college has five departments which are; Department of Chemical Engineering, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, and School of Technology.
