Biographical notes:
Following his time in Queensland, Robert Herbert was appointed Assistant Under-Secretary for the Colonies in 1870. In 1871, he became permanent Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies, holding the position for 21 years. He left the Colonial Office in 1892. Wilkinson & Son were tailors & robemakers to Queen Victoria and Edward VII. The firm was founded in 1662.
