Biographical note: Cochise County rancher and Arizona Ranger; engaged in cattle business until 1893, then associated with the Soto Brothers in the mercantile business in Willcox. He served in the State Legislature and was a member of the Arizona Livestock Sanitary Board. He married his wife, Josephine Maldonado Speed (1876-1968), in Tucson in 1900.
