W.F. Eberlein (1917-1986) held positions at the Institute for Advanced Study (1947-1948), University of Wisconsin (1948-1955), Wayne State University (1955-1956), and the University of Rochester (1957-1986). His mathematical work, largely in analysis, included ergodic theory, mean value theorems, numerical integration, and functional and harmonic analysis. He also worked on models of space-time, relativity, and quantum theory, particularly internal symmetry and spinor analysis.
