The Eastern Goldfields of W.A. is the region around Kalgoorlie in the south east of the state. Gold was discovered in Coolgardie in 1892; other finds came in quick succession, the most famous being Hannans (Kalgoorlie) in 1893. The flood of immigrants to the goldfields transformed forever the economic and social fabric of W.A.
