Businessman, of Sussex County, New Jersey; removed to Snufftown (now Stockholm), Sussex County, from Orange County, New York, in 1822; conducted a general store for William Smith and Co. of New York City at Snufftown (succeeding Hezekiah Denton), 1822-1823, and then at Vernon, Vernon Township, Sussex County; also engaged in farming, operating a sawmill and running a bloomery or forge (either at Canistear in Vernon Township or the "Windham Forge" propery near present-day Stockholm?).
