Biographical notes:

Administrative history note: The Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System created the UWM Board of Visitors on July 14, 1978. Citizens from the local community serve on the Board whose purpose is to become informed about the institution's missions, purpose, achievements, and problems. The Board is to advise and assist the institution's administration in communicating with faculty, students, prospective students, parents, alumni, government officials, and the general public. Also, the Board is to suggest to the Chancellor ways to improve the institution's services to and relationship with the students, faculty, community, and the state. The Board, at the request of the regents, the system president, the chancellor, or on its own initiative, conducts inquiries into specific matters and make reports and recommendations to the regents, system, and chancellor.
