A native of Ireland, John Scott served as the pastor of the New Liberty (Kentucky) Baptist Church from 1802 to 1833 and of the Baptist Church at Ghent, Kentucky from 1833 until his death. His correspondence concerns religious matters, land transactions in Kentucky, and the opening of a ferry in Ghent, Kentucky.
