George Herbert Harries (b. Sept. 19, 1860, South Wales, U.K.-d. Sept. 28, 1934), Major General in the U. S. Army, was a volunteer aide to General Miles in the Wounded Knee Campaign, South Dakota in 1890 and 1891. During World War I, he commanded the 5th Depot Brigade, 186th Infantry Brigade, and 173rd Infantry Brigade. For 18 years prior to his World War I service, he was commander of the District of Columbia militia (Army and Navy). He was also chief of the U.S. Military Mission, Berlin, Germany in 1920.
