Biographical notes:
The post of State High School Inspector was created by the Superintendent of Public Instruction in 1909. In 1925, the office was officially created by the legislature as the State Supervisor of High Schools (Ch. 10257, Laws). The duties of the office included inspecting high school facilities, maintaining curriculum standards, examining teacher certification, monitoring quality of instruction, and approving school accreditation. William S. Cawthon served as the first Inspector from 1909 to 1922; Romero M. Sealey held the position from 1922 to 1927. The office was abolished in 1933 (Ch. 16170, Laws).
