Biographical notes:
Physician of Eastover in lower Richland County, S.C.; born on the campus of South Carolina College in 1863; moved to Maryland with his family in 1873 when his father assumed the presidency of Washington College; completed medical training at University of Maryland, Baltimore, graduated 1888; married Annie Drucilla Wilson, 1889; settled near Eastover, S.C., where he praticed medicine into the 1930s; buried at Zion Church in Eastover, S.C.; son of Professor William James Rivers (1822-1909), author and college professor of Columbia and Charleston, S.C.
