Lowrie (Vassar College Class of 1913) was book reviewer for Harper Brothers, 1913-1932, first reader for Book-of-the-Month Club, 1931-1943, and trustee and benefactor of Vassar College.

Editor and reviewer, Lowrie (Vassar College, A.B., 1913; Radcliffe, A.M., 1915) taught briefly at Knox College (1915-1917?). She married John Marshall Lowrie, a lawyer, in 1916; they moved to New York, where Lowrie reviewed books for Harpers and other periodicals and edited the Vassar Alumnae Quarterly. She was a trustee of Vassar, 1944-1952. In 1928 she published Cambric Tea, an autobiographical novel ending at the age of eight.
