The writer Mary Elizabeth Hawker was educated at home and in France. Hawker wrote under the pseudonym Lanoe Falconer. Her work includes Mademoiselle Ixe (1890), The Hotel d'Angleterre (1891), Cecilia de Noel (1891), Shoulder to shoulder (1891), and Old Hampshire vignettes (1907). She had lived in Whitchurch, Hants., England. Mary Elizabeth Hawker died on 16 June 1908.
