Biographical notes:

Frank Ricard Brown married Marietta Kennedy about 1880 in Bodie, California; she joined him on Unga Island in 1888. They had three surviving daughters: Gladys Brown b. July 18, 1889, Unga, Alaska, Ruby Bolton Brown b. July 17, 1893, Oakland, California, and Genevieve Brown b. 1894, Unga Island, Alaska. Brown was manager of the Apollo Gold & Silver Mine on Unga Island from 1887 until 1904. He returned to Unga after his wife's death in 1907, and lived there until his death in 1939.
