Biographical notes:

The records come from one branch of the Musselman family of Lancaster County, Pa.

Michael Musselman (1782-1851) was a prominent Lancaster County farmer and distiller, living in West Lampeter Township. He was also a director of the Lancaster Bank and a county poor director. He had five sons, David, Jacob, John, Samuel and Isaac. John Musselman (b. 1811) lived on his father's farm until 1830, when he became apprenticed to a miller in Strasburg Township on the other side of Pequea Creek. Eventually he became proprietor of the Wheatland Mills and operated it until his retirement in 1881. The Wheatland Mills were a large merchant mill with an output of 50 barrels a day. John Musselman was also the treasurer of the Strasburg Rail Road Company and a director of the Farmers National Bank. He lived to be over 90 years of age.
