Biographical notes:

Many of the letters were written to Adam and Julia Ann Grubb in Wilmington, Deleware by their children, grandchildren, nephews, and other people, mostly located in Piasa, Macoupin County, Illinois. There is also some correspondence among the relatives, who include John C. Grubb, John T. Grubb, R. J. Allmond, and George W. Grubb.
