American Lutheran Church (1930-1960). College of District Presidents.

Biographical notes:

The College of District Presidents of the American Lutheran Church (ALC) met from 1930-1942, but had no official standing in the church until the ALC adopted a by-law (section 25) at its 1942 convention which constituted the College as an official body. Minutes of that body were kept, however, from 1930-1960. By counseling together concerning the welfare of the entire church and providing information about their districts to the church and about the church to their districts, College members (district presidents) were to promote unity in the ALC. The College was to be an advisory body only, except in the matter of transferring parishes from one district to another or making minor adjustments in district boundaries.
