Baker, John R. circa 1947
Biographical notes:
Born in Lewiston, Michigan in the late 1940s, John R. Baker enrolled at Michigan Technological University in 1965. His general interest in photography was solidified when he found himself in charge of the photo-lab and darkroom while working for the Mechanical Engineering-Engineering Mechanics department. In addition to assisting graduate students with their projects, Baker began to do some publicity photography for campus groups as well as freelance and studio photography. As part of the staff of Winter Carnival in 1970 and 1971 Baker covered broomball games, races, skits, and the hockey games as well as the pre-construction process and finished product of the snow statues. Baker also shot general interest photographs from around campus and around the Upper Peninsula.
