Du Pont, Henry Belin, 1898-1970
Henry Belin du Pont Jr., was born on July 23, 1898. He attended Yale University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, graduating with a B.S. in Engineering in 1923. From 1923 to 1925 he was employed at General Motors' Dayton, Ohio research laboratory. In 1927 he came to the Du Pont Company's Engineering Department. In 1937 he became Assistant to the President and the next year he was named director and secretary of General Motors.
Henry Belin du Pont had a life time interest in aviation and in 1938 founded Atlantic Aviation. He was also a director of Trans World Airlines. He was a trustee of the Longwood Library and the Eleutherian Mills Hagley Foundation. Henry Belin du Pont retired from Du Pont in May 1963 and died on April 13, 1970.
