Welfare Council of Metropolitan Chicago
Founded in 1914 as the Chicago Central Council of Social Agencies; incorporated in 1919 as the Chicago Council of Social Agencies; in the 1940s, became the Welfare Council of Metropolitan Chicago; in 1971 renamed the Council of Community Services; in 1977 merged with the Community Fund of Chicago to become the United Way of Chicago.
