Chamberlain, David S. (David Smith), 1921-1988
David S. Chamberlain (b. 1921, Akron, Ohio-d. Apr. 5, 1988), U.S. Air Force officer, graduated from West Point in 1943 and until 1946 served as the resident and area engineer in charge of construction of airfields in the China-Burma-India Theater of Operations. Assigned to the Army Corps of Engineers from 1943 until 1950, he earned a master's degree in civil engineering in 1947. Later he completed another master's degree in business administration. General Chamberlain served as deputy for the Construction Operations Division at Air Force Headquarters in Europe and as director of construction management for 3rd Air Force Headquarters in England. In 1966 he was assigned as Resident Engineer in charge of construction for an air base in Vietnam. He assumed duty as deputy chief of staff for civil engineering, Pacific Air Forces at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii in 1969, and retired in July 1971.
