Bauernschmidt, George W. (George William), 1899-
George W. Bauernschmidt was born in 1899 in Baltimore, MD. He attended Princeton University and graduated from the U.S. naval Academy in 1922. He served in the Navy for thirty-seven years, first in submarines then in the supply corps. He served in WWII and helped to plan the D-Day operation. He established the Naval Supply Center in Guam and had assignments in Pearl Harbor, Samoa and Algeria. Bauernschmidt retired in 1955.
