Sward, Robert, 1933-

Robert Sward was born in Chicago. He obtained a B.A. from the University of Illinois and an M.A. from the University of Iowa. He was appointed Visiting Poet in the University of Victoria Department of Creative Writing in 1969, and also taught in the University of Victoria Department of English. Sward's publications include "Poems: New and Selected, 1957-1976", and the novel "Jurassic Shales" (1975). In 1970 he founded the Soft Press publishing company in Victoria. In the early 1970s Sward and Robin Skelton began collaborating on a book of poems "Callsigns and Hannah", but due to disagreements the collaboration was abandoned and Skelton completed the book on his own, publishing it as "Callsigns".
