Barrett, William, Sir, 1844-1925
Educated in Manchester; in 1869 became lecturer on physics at the Royal School of Naval Architecture. From 1873 to 1910 he was Pofessor of Physics in the Royal College of Science, Dublin. Knighted 1912. F. R. S. 1899. Later interests were in psychical research and he was one of the chief founders of the Society for Psychical Research and he wrote extensively on this subject.
