Scholarly Resources, inc
John Llewellyn Lewis was elected president of the United Mine Workers of America in 1920, and held that position til 1960 when he retired. Lewis spent his life fighting for the workingman's fair share and the basic human rights he saw denied to poor whites and African Americans.
