Gifford, William Bernard.

Captain William B. Gifford and his son Lieutenant John Gifford were officers in the New York State Militia during the American Revolutionary War. Both were stationed on Long Island and participated in the battles and skirmishes that surrounded New York City. John Gifford later participated in the War of 1812, where he was involved in the battle of Chippewa and the Battle of Lundy's Lane (July, 1814).
