Craik, Georgiana M. (Georgiana Marion), 1831-1895
Georgiana Craik was born in Old Brompton, London, England. She began writing for Household words, the fortnightly newspaper co-founded by Charles Dickens, as early as 1851. She published her first novel, Riverston, in 1857. In 1886 Craik married the artist Allan Walter May and continued to write voluminously. Her novels, aimed at young readers and youngish women, deal with problems of love from the young female's point of view.
