Farnsworth, Elon, 1799-1877
Born at Woodstock, Vt., Feb. 2, 1799; came to Detroit and studied law with Judge Sibley, 1822; entered practice with Judge Goodwin; was member of state H.R., 1834-1835; Chancellor of the state, 1836-1842; director of Michigan Central Railroad for 20 years; president of Detroit Savings Bank, 1849-1877; member of Board of Regents of Michigan University, 1846-1858; died in Detroit, Mar. 24, 1877 (from Mich. biog. ; Repres. men of Mich., pt.1, p.52) (blue index cards)
