Massachusetts. Governor's Chief of Staff.
The office of the governor's chief of staff (chief secretary until 1991) coordinates policy making efforts of the heads of executive offices, and advocates legislation prioritized by the governor and the executive branch. All senior staff members report to the governor through the chief of staff. Such a post has been designated at least as early as the term of Endicott Peabody (1963-1965)
