John Kentfield and Company.
John Kentfield, a native of New York State, came to California in 1849 and established a shipping firm that flourished in the 1870s and 1880s. Among his other business interests was the supplying of redwood lumber throughout Northern California. His partners included Charles Nelson, Hans H. Buhne, and D.R. Jones. His son, Edward Elston Kentfield, ran the company after John Kentfield's death.
