Winslow, John, 1751-1829

John Winslow was a blacksmith, manufacturer, and Quaker minister who spent his life in Falmouth, Maine. He was born to Nathan Winslow and Charity Hacker Winslow in 1751. In 1780 Winslow married Lydia Hacker (1756-1839) of Salem, Massachusetts, daughter of Jeremiah Hacker and Lydia Smith Hacker. Over the next two decades the couple had 11 children, ten of whom lived to adulthood. Winslow worked as a blacksmith and tinkerer. In the 1810s he ran a factory that manufactured carders. He was also active in the local Quaker community. Winslow died on July 6, 1829.
