Sturgis Library (Barnstable, Mass.)
Located near Barnstable Village, Sturgis Library opened in 1867. Land and property, along with books and money, were the bequest of William Sturgis given for the purpose of establishing a library. Original house built in 1644 for Reverend John Lothrop was the site of religious services held until the meeting house was built in 1646.
