Rodgers, Mary, 1931-

Mary Rodgers was born on January 11, 1931, in New York City. Having a father who co-created such Broadway classics as The Sound of Music, The King and I, Oklahoma and South Pacific, Mary demonstrated her family knack for creativity starting at a young age. Beginning with musical endeavors, she took piano lessons for many years and majored in music at Wellesley College. She published her first book in 1969. Three years later came the best seller Freaky Friday, which was adapted to screen in 1977. Rodgers is credited with providing witty and original insights into the parent-child relationship.Biographical source: Something About the Author. Volume 130, 2002.
