Callaway, Joshua K.
Joshua K. Callaway (1834-1863) was born to Reverend Joseph and Temperence Callaway on September 2, 1834 in Alabama. After Callaway’s parents died in 1857, he married Dulcinea Baker. They had three children together, two girls and one boy. After the birth of his son Joseph in early 1862, Joshua joined the 28th Alabama Regiment, Army of Tennessee, Confederate Army as a lieutenant. Callaway participated in Braxton Bragg’s invasion of Kentucky and fought in the battles of Chickamauga, Chattanooga, Lookout Mountain, and Missionary Ridge. Callaway served in the army from April 13, 1862, when he first joined the Confederate forces, until his death during the Battle of Missionary Ridge, Tennessee, November 22-25, 1863.
