Wisconsin. Dept. of Natural Resources.

The Department of Natural Resources was created by the Reorganization Act of 1967 (Chapter 75) which combined the Conservation Department (WIHV86-A1163) and the Department of Resource Development (WIHV86-A114) to form the new Department. At that time many other councils and committees whose purposes and functions related to conservation and natural resource development were attached to the Department.

The Department is responsible for implementing the laws of the state and, where applicable, laws of the federal government that serve to protect and enhance the natural resources of Wisconsin--its air, land, water, wildlife, fish, and forests.
