Edinboro Foundation

The Edinboro Foundation was incorporated on May 31, 1968. Note that this is not the same corporation as the current Edinboro University Foundation, created in 1998. The Foundation's by-laws established a board of directors and officers of the corporation, who were announced in December, 1968. The articles of incorporation state that the purposes of the corporation "are to promote educational purposes in connection with or at the request of Edinboro State College, and the various activities of or pertaining to said institution." Throughout most of the period covered by these records, Dr. Robert D. Gates, Director (later Vice President) of Administrative Services at the College, was Executive Director of the Foundation. He resigned October 25, 1979, after the state Auditor General's Office reported that the Foundation's funds were mishandled. On January 29, 1981 the board of directors unanimously voted to file for bankruptcy, thus ending the Foundation.
