Wheaton Club (Columbus, Ohio)
Organized by a group of Ohio State University students interested in the study and observation of birds, the Wheaton Club was named in honor of Ohio's most prominent ornithologist, Dr. J.M. Wheaton. At the Club's first meeting on Oct. 14, 1896, the following officers were elected: R.C. Osburn, president; E.B. Williamson, vice-president; J.B. Parker, secretary and treasurer.
