Strouse, Myer, 1825-1878
Myer Strouse (December 16, 1825 – February 11, 1878) was a German-born American lawyer and politician. A member of the Democratic Party, he served in the U.S. House of Representatives representing Pennsylvania's 10th congressional district.
Born in Oberstrau, Bavaria, he immigrated to the United States in 1832 with his father and settled in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. Strouse attended private schools. From 1848 to 1852, he edited the North American Farmer in Philadelphia. He next studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1855 and commenced practice in Pottsville.
