Gomez, Jimmy, 1974-
Jimmy C. Gomez (born November 25, 1974) is an American politician. A member of the Democratic Party, he has served as the U.S. Representative for California's 34th congressional district since 2017.
Born in Fullerton, California, he graduated from Ramona High School in Riverside, California before attending Riverside Community College and earning a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles and an M.P.P. from Harvard University. After college, Gomez was an organizer fighting for working families in his community with AFSCME CA and later as an advocate for front-line nurses represented by United Nurses Association of California. He also served on the staff of Congresswoman Hilda Solis for a period. Gomez was elected to the California State Assembly in 2012, serving as State Assembly Majority Whip from 2013 to 2014. He was re-elected in 2014 and 2016.
