Herrera Beutler, Jaime, 1978-

Jaime Lynn Herrera Beutler (born November 3, 1978) is an American politician. A member of the Republican Party, she has served as the U.S. Representative for Washington's 3rd congressional district since 2011. She is the first Hispanic in history to represent Washington on the federal level.

Born Jaime Lynn Herrera in Glendale, California and raised in Ridgefield, Washington, she attended Seattle Pacific University before earning an A.A. from Bellevue Community College and a B.A. from the University of Washington. In 2004, she was an intern in the office of Washington State Senator Joe Zarelli; from 2005 to 2007, she served as a senior legislative aide to U.S. Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers. Herrera moved back to the 18th Legislative District to run for state representative, and was appointed to the Washington House of Representatives in 2007 to replace Richard Curtis, who resigned amid a sex scandal. Herrera was elected as Assistant Floor Leader, the youngest member of her party's leadership in the State House. In 2008, she married Daniel Beutler.
