Parnis, Mollie, 1902-1992.

Brooklyn-born ready-to-wear and boutique designer for women's clothes. She opened her own design firm in 1933, launched her own label in the 1940's and became known for her understated, conservative, well-tailored dresses and suits in luxurious looking fabrics. She closed her salon in 1984 but the next year started up an At-Home business concentrating on loungewear. She designed for several first ladies and in 1985 published "Fashion, the Inside Story".
