McCollum, Betty, 1954-

Betty Louise McCollum (née Dierich, born July 12, 1954) is an American politician. A member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, she has served as the U.S. Representative for Minnesota's 4th congressional district, serving since 2001. She is the second woman elected to Congress from Minnesota. McCollum became the dean of Minnesota's congressional delegation in 2021.

Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and raised in South St. Paul, she graduated from South St. Paul High School before earning an A.A. from Inver Hills Community College in 1980 and a B.A. from the College of St. Catherine in 1987. She spent twenty-five years in retail sales and management and taught high school social science. From 1987 to 1992, she served her neighbors on the North St. Paul City Council. In 1992 she was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives after she defeated an incumbent state representative in the DFL primary. She served four terms in the Minnesota House before being elected to Congress in 2000.
