Noble, M? Rev.

George Barrington, pickpocket, born near Dublin, was arrested in about 1773, was tried and transported to the American colonies. In 1790 he was arrested and tried for further offences, and was transported to Sydney on the Active, and sent to work at Toongabbie. 'Irreproachable conduct' won him a place in the police watch that protected the government stores, led to a conditional pardon in 1792, and in 1796 he was appointed chief constable at Parramatta.
