Opened as Office of the Housing Expediter Region 5, 1946, with jurisdiction over Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas (except Johnson and Wyandotte Counties), Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. Acquired responsibility for Missouri, and Johnson and Wyandotte Counties, Kansas, from Region 3 (Chicago), 1947. Abolished, 1950, with Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas to Region 4 (Atlanta); Colorado, Kansas, and Missouri to Region 6 (Chicago); and New Mexico to Region 8 (San Francisco, CA). Reconstituted as Office of Rent Stabilization Region V, 1951, with jurisdiction acquired over Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas from Region IV (Atlanta). Closed, 1953.
