United Methodist Church (U.S.). Western North Carolina Conference
In 1939 the Western North Carolina Conference was created as part of the Methodist Church (United States); created from the body of that name in the Methodist Episcopal Church, South; it absorbed portions of the North Carolina Conference of Methodist Protestant Church and of Blue Ridge-Atlantic Conference and North Carolina Conference of Methodist Episcopal Church; in 1968 the parent body merged with the Evangelical United Brethren Church to form the United Methodist Church (United States) and the Western North Carolina Conference continued as a subdivision of that body.
