Opened as Office of the Housing Expediter Region 4 in 1946, with jurisdiction over Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia (except suburbs of Washington, D.C.). Acquired responsibility for the Virginia of D.C. and for Puerto Rico from the abolished Washington Metropolitan Area Region, 1947. Acquired responsibility for Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas from abolished Region 5 (Dallas) in 1950. Redesignated OHE Southeastern Branch, 1951. Redesignated Office of Rent Stabilization Region IV, 1951, with jurisdiction over Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas transferred to reconstituted Region V (Dallas). Closed, 1953.
