Dole, Nathan Haskell, 1852-1935
Nathan Haskell Dole was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, and educated at Harvard University. He worked as a teacher and journalist in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and California, and as advisor and editor for the publishing firms Crowell and Appleton. He also wrote poetry, and was a prolific translator of Russian works into English, including Tolstoy's works and numerous songs and lyrical pieces.
