Rillieux, Norbert, 1806-1894

1806 March 17 Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, the natural son of Vincent Rillieux and Constance Vivant 1830 Sent to Paris, France to be educated. Published some technical studies that ranked him as an engineer of highest ability. 1834 Invented the Multiple Evaporator and its application into the sugar industry. Revolutionized, not only Louisiana's sugar industry, but the sugar and chemical industry of the world. Received the first patents for his apparatus which evaporated the first successful usage of latent heat in a vacuum. 1894 Oct. 8 Died in Paris.
