Quick, John H. (John Henry), 1870-1922

John Henry Quick (June 20, 1870 – September 9, 1922) was a United States Marine who received the Medal of Honor for his actions at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in 1898 during the Spanish–American War and the Distinguished Service Cross and the Navy Cross during World War I. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for his bravery at Cuzco, Cuba, on June 14, 1898. His citation reads "Distinguishing himself during this action, Quick signaled the U.S.S. Dolphin on 3 different occasions while exposed to a heavy fire from the enemy". His Medal was awarded to him on December 13, 1898. A career Marine, he served in the Philippines in 1901, where he was recommended for another Medal of Honor (which was rejected). Later serving in World War I, he was awarded both the Navy Cross and the Army Distinguished Service award.
