Baker, James Thomas
Ham, a fundamentalist Baptist, held a seven week revival in Elizabeth City, North Carolina in 1924. An agnostic who owned and edited the local INDEPENDENT, Saunders criticized Ham's racist, anti-semitic, and anti-Catholic pronouncements. During the revival, Ham attacked Saunders from the pulpit while Saunders retaliated in print.
